Mr. Nichols has been a part of Hudson Brothers Construction Company and J.H. Hudson Construction Company for 41 years. After working two summers with J.H. Hudson Construction while in college, he was employed full time after graduation from East Carolina University in 1977. He served as a Field Superintendent from 1978 to 1985, and as Project Manager from 1985 to 1995. When the company reorganized as Hudson Brothers Construction Company in 1995, Mr. Nichols became more involved in work acquisition by estimating and preparing proposals. In 1998, he became Director of Hudson Brothers’ Pre-Engineered Building Program. His present duties are described below.  

Responsibilities – Estimator

Mr. Nichols leads, directs, and assists the Estimating Department during all stages of estimating, design/build, and private as well as publicly bid projects. He solicits competitive pricing from subcontractors, checks estimated quantities of materials and approves pricing of materials and labor. He is responsible for purchasing materials and negotiating subcontract agreements for projects awarded. He is also responsible for updating historical data concerning subcontractors, skilled labor and alternative methods of construction to protect Hudson Brother’s reputation as a cost and quality conscious builder.

Director of Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Systems

Mr. Nichols leads the PEMB Program at Hudson Brothers Construction Company. Responsibilities include meeting with clients to ascertain their needs, make value recommendations, pricing, proposal preparation, order entry, building erection and final completion. Since assuming these responsibilities in 1998, he has ordered more than 100 buildings, totaling approximately $10.2 million in actual steel purchases. He was awarded certification as a Master Order Writer by Butler Manufacturing Company in 2000.
